Club Name: Redwood Middle School Robotics Club
RMS VEX Robotics Club, a program that is about building machines and building a community.
Our mission is: Learn, Compete, and Have Fun
Founded in 2016 by Mr. Hoang, the club has grown into a massive operation. With over 60 active members, the club is busier than ever. This year, we have seven competitive teams. While six of those are “seasoned” crews , we have a novice team of newcomers who are just starting. 8th graders help teach the novice team. We also get some help from SHS students who stop by to share their wisdom.
These teams are serious competitors.
The commitment here is no joke. Most successful members put in a lot more of 4 hours a week, often attending four different build sessions to perfect their designs. We even have “Summer Build” sessions to get a head start on the season’s new challenge.
RMS has become a staple at tournaments across the region, state, national and worlds. When you ask a club member about their favorite moment, they will tell you it was the best moment when the team took the campaign for the first time.
RMS also has the FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) club which is a separate club.
