Yiran W, 2025 Texas Congressional Art Competition

This painting shows the CapMetro Red Line leaving Leander Staon—a town named after the railroad engineer who helped our community grow. The bright red train travels to downtown Austin, passing fields of Texas wildflowers that remind us nature’s always nearby. Lady Bird Lake shines with reflections of the city skyline, where city life meets nature’s peace. Soft hills in the distance remind us that progress grows from Texas’ lasting beauty. With every brushstroke, I wanted to share “America: Through My Eyes” how ordinary journeys connect us, how old stories and new ideas can ride together, and how a simple train ride can feel like a bridge between home and adventure.

Honored to share that this artwork has been recommended by Congressman John Carter as a District 31 finalist in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition finalists.
