Ecolyst Ottawa Leads Successful Spring Cleanup with ‘Cleaning the Capital’ Program
Over the past two years, the Ecolyst Ottawa Chapter has been a dedicated participant in the
City of Ottawa’s “Cleaning the Capital” program. Our chapter is committed to a twice-yearly
(spring and fall) effort to keep our local environment pristine, and we are pleased to share the
success of our most recent May spring cleanup of 2026.

As always, we registered for the program with the City, securing all necessary supplies to clean
a nearby park. This spring, our volunteers gathered at the local park to help pick up litter and
restore the natural beauty of these public spaces.

“For this cleanup, we used social media campaigns for the first time to promote the project,
and we were happy to see more people from our community getting involved and helping raise
awareness of keeping our living environment clean,” said Shundah Yu, the Ecolyst event
organizer. “We provided gloves and garbage bags, and it was great to see so many people, from
those who could spare just thirty minutes to those here for the full three hours, all making a
difference.”

The Ecolyst Ottawa Chapter looks forward to continuing this tradition with our neighbors. For
