Holes
STANLEY YEALNATS
Holes is a story about a boy named Stanley Yelnats, who is sent to Camp Green Lake, for a crime he didn’t commit. They are forced to dig holes daily in the dry lake at the camp. The warden says it builds character, but Stanley soon realizes they are digging for something the warden is looking for.
Stanley Yealnats is accused of stealing shoes that belong to Clyde Livingston, his favorite baseball player, but he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time like always, and it’s all that dirty rotten pig stealing great-great-grandfather’s fault.
Stanley’s family is cursed by his great-great-grandfather; he stole a pig and broke his promise to Madame Zeroni.
AT THE CAMP
At the camp, Stanley is given the nickname Caveman, and he and a boy called Zero (Hector Zeroni) become friends. He and Zero become close friends, and they help each other escape Camp Green Lake.
TREASURE FOUND
They soon find a case full of stocks, and treasures, that Kate Barlow stole from Stanley’s ancestor, and the warden tries to claim it, but Zero points out that it has Stanley’s name on it as his name is the same as his ancestors. They open the case, and Stanley awards half of all of it to Zero.
CONCLUSION
I believe that Holes by Louis Sachar is a very creative book, with a lot of backstory, and the more you read it, the more things start to make sense.
