Last week on Saturday, I had the chance to volunteer for Ecolyst at the Cupertino Earth Day event. It was an absolutely amazing experience, as this was my second time attending Ecolyst’s booth on Earth Day. We were able to pass out prizes, spread awareness about the environment, and learn about different people’s perspectives on the environment. Doing this was extremely important for Ecolyst, as it lets us understand what our community is doing for the environment.
Busy Booth
When I first got to the Ecolyst booth, I was led to pass out free toys to anyone that answered the survey we put in front of the table. Something that was heartwarming about this was that every single one of the toys that were being passed out were recyclable toys. This shows how recyclable things are still useful and that we can still make use of things we deem as “broken”. It was heartwarming seeing different kids come up to choose their toys after filling out the survey. By looking at the survey results, it has shown us that most people care about the environment. Most people wrote on the free response area that they want to recycle more to decrease pollution and help out the environment more. After I volunteered for a few hours, I walked around to check out the other booths for the earth day event. It was absolutely amazing to see different organizations come out to support this Earth Day event. Each booth had its own uniqueness, all which supported the environment. Something that catched my eye particularly, was a booth that sold drinks with recyclable cups. This shows how we can reduce waste and make use of everything.
Summary
To summarize, it was an absolute honor to be able to volunteer for the Ecolyst Earth Day booth this year. Seeing everybody go out their way to support the environment is a heartwarming sight.
